givemeabreak's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Search is Over Whew - another holiday put to rest. Craziness, I say, sheer craziness. The whole tips at Christmas time thing has been unbelievable. I have received over $150.00 and numerous gifts. I can hardly wait to see my next pay check. Cha-Ching baby. It was so wonderful the other day to march into Marshall Fields with a crisp $20 bill in my hand and gleefully eye up the Clinique counter. Oh, how I have longed to wear good lipstick again. All the usual drug-store variety manufacturers have nice colors and whatever slick, matte, shiny, wet...fashion of the day. I just want a lipstick that goes with ME, not one that I have to change based on what I am wearing. That perfect existed a few years ago - it was called Nude Bloom by Clinique. It was quirky because I along with my ex-girlfriend and her mom LOVE Clinique bonus days. There is just something about spending $60.00 and then receiving my "free" goodies in miniature form. The Nude Bloom was the color of choice for the bonus special. I loved that color. That color loved me. It was a kiss from heaven waiting to happen. Then they discontinued it - I was crushed; not to mention my bottom lip was no longer blooming. The Clinique counterettes were very consoling and tried to find a similar and suitable shade. I was willing to try each one they suggested, yet sadly enough it was never quite the exact shade I needed it to be. With my money burning a hole in my hand I waltzed right up to the counter and asked if they had brought back the old faithful Nude Bloom. This exceptionally perky womyn told me, "no, but we have one that is so close, I bet you won't even notice." I told her I had tried a couple in the past, and even resorted to mixing two colors together...so if she thought she could do better than that, I was all for it. She then produced the shade of all shades: DOUBLE TRUFFLE it is Nude Blooms sexy twin sister. I was so happy. I practically floated out of the store. It has been a long time since I have splurged on cosmetic stuff like that, so it was great. Things that make me very happy: (other than the obvious, Tracy, family, friends and all those things), Double Truffle lipstick by Clinique Modern perfume for Women by Banana Republic Caffeine Free Classic Coca-Cola Pumpkin Spice Coffee Peppermint Bark candy - yummy! Liv Tyler in the Lord of the Rings - what marvelous skin she has...wow! Christmas decorations - particularly in Bordello red (thanks Adam - I love that phrase). I could go on and on, but hey I have bored you enough already right? 10:34 p.m. - Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
